Psycho-Education

Through Psycho-Education the therapist takes time to educate the client on the illness or difference keeping the client from optimal functioning.  Family members and others close with the client can be a part of this education in order to provide adequate support.  The better a person understands an illness, disorder, or difference, the more they can help themselves.  The goal is for the client to use their knowledge to help them build appropriate coping skills and resources that prevent them from entering or relapsing into a deeper state of illness.
